AI has arrived as of November, 2022 when OpenAI introduced ChatGPT, the "Free" Chatbot. To date, it has become big business, REALLY BIG business. Billions upon billions of dollars are being poured into startups and existing companies with AI divisions. A big cost is setting up data centers to contain the computer power and memory to handle all the processing. It was estimated that Elon Musk is working on one in Texas that has the footprint of three Pentagons.

I've listed about a half-dozen U.S. free chatbots with usage restrictions and $20/mo for full use. Even more expensive options from $200 to $2,000/month are available. In rough order of U.S. popularity in 2025, see the following list:
